Second - I used to have a memory foam pad and I like this better. The gel seems to give it more structure, less of what they call "pooling" that you can get with memory foam. Since memory foam molds to your body, it creates a pool that you sleep in, which is comfortable and all, but sometimes annoying when you want to roll over at night. This gel/memory foam combo holds it shape better, but gives to my body really well.
I got the 3-inch one, which seems plenty thick - I have it on a really firm mattress, which the people at Ultimate Sleep suggested, as any foam or latex topper on a too-soft mattress will just add to the too-softness (if that makes sense...)
One thing, this arrives in a tight ball, wrapped in plastic from the factory - it sprang to life out of the plastic better than the memory foam, which can take a few hours to "find" its shape. The chemical smell from... Read more
